LA Anti-ICE Protests
LOS ANGELES, June 2025 — Hundreds of demonstrators took to the streets of Los Angeles over multiple days in response to a series of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) workplace raids, which resulted in the detention of more than 100 undocumented individuals.
Highway Blockades and Car Fires: On June 8, around 2,000 protesters blocked the 101 Freeway for several hours, drew large crowds, and set multiple Waymo autonomous vehicles ablaze. Authorities later pushed them back using gas canisters and riot gear.
Riot Response: Protesters threw fireworks, bottles, concrete, and scooter parts at law enforcement, prompting use of tear gas, rubber bullets, and flash-bang grenades.
Arrests & Injuries: Dozens of people were arrested—estimates range from 27 to nearly 60 in L.A., with additional arrests in San Francisco. Injuries included both protesters, officers, and journalists caught in the crossfire.
